The Block Editor: Drag, Drop, Organize
The four editor tabs, block types, the library picker, drag-to-reorder, sections, and sponsor attribution on any block.
The block editor is where a fanflet takes shape. You add resources one block at a time, group them into sections, drag them into the order you want, and attribute any block to a sponsor when it makes sense. This guide walks the editor surface end to end.
The four tabs
The editor splits work across four tabs, sitting under the title bar. You stay on one tab at a time, and your changes persist as you move between them.
- Content. Your blocks. This is where you add, edit, reorder, and group resources.
- Design. Theme picker for the public page, including color palette and layout presets.
- Access. Access codes, expiration dates, and the confirmation email sent after a survey response.
- Settings. Title, event name, public URL ending, landing page visibility, archive, and delete.
Block types
A block is one row on the public page. Four types cover most needs.
- Link. A title, optional description, optional thumbnail image, and a destination URL. Renders as a tappable row, opening the link in a new tab.
- File. A document, image, or media file you upload. Stored in your Resource Library and shown on the public page as a download row with file size and type.
- Text. A short message or section intro. Renders inline, no link, no download. Useful for context, instructions, or a thank-you note.
- Sponsor. A featured partner block with logo, CTA label, and link. Rendered with a different visual treatment so attendees see it as sponsor content. Hidden when sponsor visibility is off in your plan.
Adding a block from scratch
The Content tab shows an Add Resource button at the bottom of your block list. Click it to open the new-block panel.
Pick a block type
Choose Link, File, Text, or Sponsor from the four tiles. The form switches to the matching fields for the type you pick.
Fill in the fields
Title is the headline attendees see. URL, description, thumbnail, and content fields appear based on the type. Files upload to your Resource Library at the same time.
Pick a section
The Section Name combobox places this block under a header on the public page. Type a new section name or pick an existing one from the suggestions.
Add it
Click Add Block. The block appears at the bottom of the section in the editor and on the public page on the next save.
Adding from your Resource Library
When you have items in your library, an Add from Library button sits next to Add Resource. The picker opens inside the editor, no page navigation.
- Folders first on Pro+. If you organize your library into folders, the picker opens to a folder list with counts. Tap a folder to see its items, or tap Add all to drop the whole folder into the fanflet at once.
- Search and browse. Switch to the flat list to see every item across folders. Items already on this fanflet are tagged Already linked and disabled.
- Static or Dynamic. For links, text, and sponsor items you choose Static (a one-time copy you edit only on this fanflet) or Dynamic (a live link, updating whenever you edit the library item). Files are always dynamic, since one file lives in one place.
The library is the easier path on every fanflet after your first. Read Resource Library Basics to set yours up.
Static vs dynamic
Adding sponsor library items
When a sponsor connects with you and shares their catalog, a Sponsor catalog button appears next to the Add buttons. The picker groups items by sponsor and by campaign, with a search field across the whole catalog.
- Sponsor-supplied resources stay in sync with the sponsor. If they update the URL or replace the file, your fanflet updates with no work from you.
- Items you have already placed on this fanflet are tagged Added so you do not double-add the same resource.
- Filter by type (link, file, sponsor block) to narrow a long catalog before picking.
Read Connecting with Sponsors for how connections work and what data flows in each direction.
Sections: grouping blocks
Every block lives in a section. The section name renders as a header on the public page, with the section’s blocks under it. Sections give attendees a quick read of what is inside before they scroll.
- Default sectionis “Resources”. Sponsor blocks default to “Featured Partners”.
- Reuse names. The combobox suggests section names you have used on other fanflets. Reusing a name keeps your public pages consistent.
- Move blocks between sections by editing the block and changing its section name. The section header disappears from the public page once its last block leaves.
Drag and drop to reorder
Each block has a drag handle on its left edge, marked with a grip icon. Hold the handle, drag a block up or down, and drop it where you want.
- The new order saves on drop. The public page renders blocks in the order you set.
- Keyboard works too. Tab to a handle, press space to pick up the block, use arrow keys to move it, press space again to drop.
- Drag across sections to move a block from one section to another. The block’s section name updates to match.
Sponsor attribution on any block
The Sponsor block type is one option, but it is not the only way to credit a sponsor. Any link, file, or text block has an Attribute to a connected sponsor dropdown when you have active sponsor connections.
- Pick a sponsor from the dropdown to attribute clicks and downloads on this block to them.
- The block looks normal on the public page. Attribution is for reporting, so the sponsor sees the engagement in their report without a visible badge.
- Use this when a sponsor underwrites your slide deck, your handout, or a curated link. The sponsor gets credit for the scan-to-engagement path even when the block is yours.
Why this matters
Editing, archiving, and deleting
Each block card has a pencil icon for inline editing, a trash icon for delete, and an overflow menu for less common actions.
- Edit. The block expands in place with the same fields you saw when adding it. Save commits the change. Cancel discards.
- Delete. A confirmation dialog protects against accidents. Deleting a block on a published fanflet removes it from the public page on save.
- Library-linked blocks. Deleting a dynamic block unlinks it from this fanflet. The library item stays put, ready to use elsewhere.
Save state and dirty tracking
The editor tracks unsaved edits. The Save button activates as soon as you change a field, and the browser warns you if you try to close the tab with unsaved work.
- Auto-save fires on a few actions. Theme changes save in the background. Survey question changes save silently. A confirmation toast lands top-right when each silent save lands.
- Preview and QR Code save your work first, then open the destination. Preview opens the real public page with owner tools (no portal sidebar). You never click Preview and see stale content.
- Block actions save themselves. Adding, editing, deleting, and reordering a block writes to the server on the spot. The Save button covers fanflet-level fields like title, event name, and the public URL ending.
Cloning a fanflet
When the next event rolls around, do not start from a blank screen. Open the fanflet you want as a template, click Clone in the action row, and a new draft appears with the same blocks, sections, and theme. Update the title, event name, and dates, swap the few resources you want to replace, and publish.
