Subscribers and List Building

Capture email signups, customize confirmation emails, send digests, and notify followers when you publish.

Every fanflet you publish includes a subscribe form. When someone drops their email, they land in your Subscribers list, get a confirmation email, and start following your speaker portfolio automatically. Your next published fanflet pings them.

Where the Subscribe Form Lives

Fanflet renders subscribe forms in two places, both on the audience side of your portfolio.

  • On every published fanflet. The subscribe block sits below your resource list. Anyone who scans your QR code or opens the URL sees it.
  • On your speaker landing page. Your portfolio page at /your-link has its own portfolio-level subscribe form. Useful when you share your speaker link instead of a single fanflet.

Free plan note

Email capture is a Pro and Studio feature. On the Free plan, the subscribe form is hidden from your fanflets. See pricing for the full breakdown.

What Happens When Someone Subscribes

1

The subscriber row is created

Their email and optional name are stored against your speaker account, tagged with the fanflet they subscribed from. Duplicates are deduped, so the same email subscribing twice does not create two rows.
2

A confirmation email goes out

Fanflet sends a confirmation email with a link back to the fanflet they subscribed from. You control the subject and body per fanflet (more on the configuration below). If you have not customized it, a sensible default is used.
3

They auto-follow your portfolio

The subscriber becomes a follower of your speaker account. Every future fanflet you publish triggers a follower notification, so your list compounds across talks instead of resetting each time.
4

Sponsor leads are routed

If the fanflet has a tracked sponsor and the subscriber consented to share, the lead is forwarded to the sponsor through the distribution flow. See tracked sponsors.

The Subscribers Dashboard

Open /dashboard/subscribers to see your list. The page opens with three counters at the top: total subscribers, this week, and how many distinct fanflets they subscribed through.

Search and filter

  • Search by email or name. Matches as you type.
  • Filter by source fanflet to see who came in from a specific talk. Useful for thanking a single audience or following up on one event.
  • Sort by newest, oldest, email A-Z or Z-A, or source name.

Bulk actions

  • Select rows with the checkboxes, or select all visible rows from the header checkbox.
  • Export to CSV. Exports the current view (or the current selection if you have one). The file includes email, name, subscribe date, and source fanflet.
  • Email selected subscribers. Compose a one-off broadcast. Each message goes out individually with your speaker email as the reply-to address, so replies come straight to you.
  • Delete a row or a batch. Deletion is permanent.

Using filter + export

Filter by a single fanflet, then export. You get a CSV scoped to one talk, ready to drop into a CRM list or a thank-you campaign.

Per-Fanflet Confirmation Email

Each fanflet has a confirmation_email_config you control from the editor. Open a fanflet, scroll to the confirmation email panel, and set the subject and body for the specific fanflet.

Tokens you have available in the subject and body:

  • {{speaker_name}} resolves to your speaker name
  • {{fanflet_title}} resolves to the fanflet title
  • {{subscriber_email}} resolves to the subscriber's email

If you leave the per-fanflet config blank, Fanflet falls back to your speaker-level default. If you have not set a default, the built-in template ships out. The confirmation email always includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

When to override per-fanflet

Override the default when a fanflet needs a specific follow-up. Point attendees at a recording link, send a discount code, or promote a follow-on workshop. The portfolio-level default keeps working for the rest of your fanflets.

Speaker-Publish Notifications

Subscribers auto-follow your speaker portfolio. When you publish a new fanflet, every follower with a Fanflet audience account gets an in-app notification. If they have email notifications enabled in their audience portal, an email goes out as well.

The notification links straight to the new fanflet, so a follower one tap away from your latest resources. Followers control their own notification preferences from the audience portal. You do not opt them in or out from your dashboard.

Digest Cadence

Open /dashboard/settings to set your own analytics digest cadence. You pick how often Fanflet emails you a summary of your portfolio performance:

  • Off. No digest emails.
  • Weekly. Every Monday, the prior 7 days.
  • Monthly. First of the month, the prior 30 days.

Each digest includes page views, resource clicks, new subscribers, and your top three resources by clicks, with deltas against the prior period. You also get a "Send test digest" button on the settings page to preview before committing to a cadence.

Digest is for you, not your audience

The digest emails go to the speaker. Subscriber-facing communication runs through the per-fanflet confirmation email and your manual broadcasts from the Subscribers dashboard.

Unsubscribe Flow

Every email Fanflet sends on your behalf includes a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. Clicking it opts the recipient out immediately. No confirmation page, no friction. They drop off your list and stop receiving notifications about new fanflets.

Subscribers who created an audience portal account also have a notification settings page where they manage email preferences and unfollow individual speakers. Unfollowing is reversible from their side. Unsubscribing from a list is reversible only by re-subscribing through one of your fanflets.

Do not work around unsubscribe

Once a subscriber unsubscribes, you should not re-add them through the broadcast tool or import. Doing so risks spam complaints and puts your sender reputation at risk for the whole platform.

Privacy and PII

The data you see for a subscriber is intentionally narrow:

  • Email. Required.
  • Name. Optional, only present when the subscribe form collected it.
  • Source fanflet. Which talk they came in from.
  • Subscribe timestamp.

Subscribers do not share their location, device, IP, or any identifying metadata with you. Analytics events are anonymous and live in a separate table. They do not link a click back to a specific subscriber. From the audience side, subscribers see your public speaker info: name, photo, bio, social links, and your published fanflets.

Treat subscriber data as PII. Store exports securely. Do not paste full email lists into third-party tools without a legitimate processing reason.

Plan Limits

  • Free. No email capture. The subscribe form is hidden on Free plan fanflets.
  • Pro. Email capture and subscriber list, full CSV export, broadcast email tool, per-fanflet confirmation email customization.
  • Studio. Everything in Pro, with priority support if delivery or list issues come up.
