Dynamic Content: Update Once, Update Everywhere
Library-linked blocks stay in sync across every fanflet using them. When to use static vs dynamic, and how to detach.
The idea in one paragraph
A block on your fanflet is dynamic when it links back to an item in your Resource Library. Edit the library item once, and every fanflet referencing it reflects the change. A static block is a one-off copy. You edit it on the fanflet itself, and the change stays on that single page.

How to tell which is which
Open any fanflet from your dashboard. Each block in the editor shows its type label (Link, File, Embed, Sponsor) along the top. A dynamic block also shows a small Linked badge with a chain icon next to the type label.
When you click Edit on a linked block, you see a short notice instead of the full edit form: the title, URL, and other content fields are read-only on the fanflet. A link sends you to the Resource Library, where the source item lives. The only field you edit on a linked block is the Section Name, since section grouping is per-fanflet.
A static block has no Linked badge. Click Edit and you see the full form for title, description, URL, and image.
What propagates from library to blocks
When you update a library item, the following fields flow to every dynamic block referencing it:
- Title
- Description
- URL (for link blocks)
- File attachment (for file blocks, resolved at download time via the library reference)
- Image
- Section name (cascades to every linked block on every fanflet)
- Metadata (CTA text and similar custom fields)

What does not propagate
Some fields belong to the block, not the library item. Edits to those stay local to the fanflet:
- Section name on the fanflet. You change the grouping for one fanflet without affecting others. Editing the library item's section name still cascades the new value.
- Display order. Each fanflet keeps its own ordering via the drag handle.
- Sponsor attribution on the block. Per-fanflet sponsor links override the library item's default sponsor.
- Fanflet-level settings. Title, event name, expiration, access codes, and theme apply to the fanflet, not its blocks.
Updating a library item
Open the Resource Library
Go to Resources from the sidebar. Find the item you want to update.
Edit the fields
Change the title, URL, file, description, image, or section name. Save.
Done
Every dynamic block on every fanflet referencing this item shows the new content immediately. No republish needed. Public pages revalidate automatically.

Detaching a block from the library
Sometimes you want one fanflet's copy of a resource to differ from the library version. The library route handles this through the delete-with-conversion flow:
Open Resources and pick the item
In Resources, select the item you no longer want as a shared library entry.
Delete with the convert option
When you delete a library item linked to one or more fanflets, you choose between two paths. Pick Convert to static copies. Every dynamic block referencing the item snapshots the current title, URL, file path, description, image, and section name onto itself, then drops the library link.
Edit the standalone copies
Each fanflet now has its own static block. Open any fanflet, click Edit on the block, and rename or rewrite the resource for that single event without touching others.
One-way operation
Re-linking a block to the library
Re-linking is not a one-click action. The path is to delete the static block on the fanflet, then add the library item back from the Resource Library picker. The new block carries the dynamic link from the start.
If a static block's content matches a library item exactly, you lose nothing by replacing it. If it has been customized for the event, save those edits before deleting.
Deleting a library item
When the item has dynamic blocks pointing at it, the delete dialog asks how to handle them:
- Convert to static copies. Each block keeps its content as a snapshot. Fanflets continue to display the resource. Future edits stay per-fanflet.
- Remove from fanflets. Each linked block is deleted. The resource disappears from every fanflet at the same time. File uploads on the library item are also cleaned up from storage.
When the library item has no linked blocks, deletion runs without a prompt.
When to use static vs dynamic
Default to dynamic. The library is built around the assumption that most resources you share are reusable. Reach for static for one-off event-specific links.
- Dynamic. The same resource you share at every event. Your speaker reel, your booking page, your latest white paper. Update the library item once and every past and future fanflet picks up the new version.
- Static. A handout written for one conference. An event-specific giveaway link. A title you want phrased differently for one audience. The block lives on a single fanflet and is edited there.
Use cases
- Corrected URLs. A booking link or product page moved. Update the library item once. Every fanflet a guest scans today gets the right destination.
- Updated PDF versions. Replace the V1 handout with V2 in the library. Past attendees who tap Download now get the new file.
- Rebranded titles. Renamed your signature talk? Edit the library item title, and every fanflet header for that resource updates.
- Section reorganization. Rename a category from “Worksheets” to “Templates” in the library item, and the section heading shifts on every fanflet using it.
