Surveys and Session Feedback

Build a reusable question library, attach up to three questions per fanflet, and review responses in analytics.

What surveys do for you

Session feedback dies the moment your audience stands up to leave. Fanflet captures it at the highest-intent moment of the day. The visitor scans the QR code, lands on the survey, and answers before the resources appear.

You build a small library of reusable questions, attach up to three to any fanflet, and review responses on a per-fanflet basis in analytics. No paper forms, no follow-up email blast, no missed window.

Pro plan and above

Surveys and session feedback ship as part of the Pro plan. Free accounts see the upgrade prompt on the Surveys page. Visit the Surveys page from the dashboard sidebar to confirm your plan, or open Settings to upgrade.

Building your reusable question library

The library lives at /dashboard/surveys. Every question you write goes here once and gets reused across every fanflet you attach it to. Five response types ship in the system.

  • NPS (0 to 10):the standard recommendation scale. Best for "how likely are you to recommend this speaker to a colleague" style questions.
  • Yes / No: a thumbs-up / thumbs-down binary. Use it for follow-up consent, return interest, or product awareness checks.
  • Rating (1 to 5 stars): a quick session rating or satisfaction read.
  • Quote: a written answer you may post. Attendees are asked if you can share their words. Only Quotes enter Ready to promote.
  • Comment: a written answer that stays private. Product interest, operational notes, and follow-up belong here. No share prompt.

The library ships with starter templates organized by audience. Speaker, audience, sponsor, and event categories each have a few ready-to-use prompts you adopt with one click.

Attaching questions to a fanflet

1

Open the fanflet editor

Go to your fanflet from the dashboard and open the editor.
2

Switch to the Access tab

The Access tab holds gating controls. Survey questions sit there alongside access codes and expiration.
3

Pick up to three questions

Choose from your question library. Three questions is the cap per fanflet. Order matters. The visitor sees them in the order you list them.
4

Save the fanflet

Save the fanflet. The next visitor lands on the gated experience.

The gated public experience

When a fanflet has at least one question attached, the public page opens in gated mode. The visitor sees a hero card with your name and presentation title, plus a modal containing the first survey question. A progress indicator shows which question they are on (for example, "Question 1 of 3").

The visitor either answers each question in turn or taps Skip. Either path clears the gate, the modal dismisses, and the resource list appears. Their choice gets remembered on the device, so they do not see the survey again on a return visit.

Skip versus submit

Skip

Skip clears the gate and opens the resource page. No response gets recorded. The visitor still loads the fanflet and engages with your content normally. Your analytics show the gate was shown but no answer was captured.

Submit

Submitting an answer writes one row to the response store against this fanflet, this question, and an anonymous visitor hash. The hash is derived from IP and user agent on a daily basis, so a repeat answer from the same visitor on the same day gets rejected. Once the visitor finishes the last question (or skips to it), the modal shows a thank-you state and the resource list opens.

The skip path matters

The skip path is intentional. Forced surveys lose audiences fast. Letting the visitor bypass the gate keeps your resource handoff frictionless while still capturing feedback from the visitors who opt in. Watch the completion rate to see how many visitors choose to answer.

Reviewing responses

Survey results live on each fanflet's analytics page, not in a single global report. Open a fanflet from the dashboard and switch to its analytics view to see results scoped to the session.

  • Completion rate: the share of visitors who answered at least one question versus those who saw the gate.
  • Response distribution: the spread of answers per question. NPS shows the 0-to-10 distribution. Rating shows the 1-to-5 star spread. Yes / No shows the split.
  • Per-question summaries: each question attached to the fanflet renders its own summary block.

For more on what else the analytics page shows, see the analytics guide.

Ready to promote

Written questions are either Quotes or Comments. Quotes can be posted. Comments cannot. The type is chosen when you create the question, not after someone answers.

  • Only Quote questions show the share prompt and enter Ready to promote. Session takeaway and colleague-note templates are Quotes. Everything else written is a Comment.
  • Ignore removes a quote from Ready to promote immediately. Restore it later from Not used.
  • Approve can still promote a Comment if you change your mind about a specific answer.
  • When the same attendee also left a 4 or 5 star rating, craft can put the quote and stars on one image.

Reusing questions across fanflets

The library is the source of truth. Every fanflet referencing a question pulls the live text and response type from the library at render time. Edit a question once and every fanflet using it picks up the change.

Deleting a question from the library removes it from every fanflet using it. The fanflet keeps working, the survey for the deleted question drops away, and historical responses stay attached to the fanflet for analytics.

Deleting is permanent

The delete confirmation will warn you. Any fanflets attached to the question lose their survey gate for the deleted slot. If you want to rephrase a question, edit it instead of deleting.
